Custom Design
We offer a vast array of custom jewelry manufacturing.
By working with many suppliers, we can design one-of-a-kind pieces to reflect
your personal taste. Our gemologist can grade and sort gemstones to
compliment your style. We offer traditional wax modeling, as well as 2D
computer design.
Remounting
Our jewelers can help you restyle your old jewelry into
something new. We offer vintage, traditional and contemporary
designs. You can choose from multiple setting options. These include
prong setting, channel setting, bezel setting, bead setting, or flush
setting. To have the experience of creating your one-of-a-kind piece, stop
by any of our four locations for expert advice and guidance.
Laser Welding

In 2003, we purchased a new Crafford Laserstar laser
welder. This piece of equipment is the newest in welding technology.
The laser points a high intensity amplified light beam to fuse metal
together. This is done without any heat being transferred to the rest of
the jewelry. This allows a ring to be welded while holding it in your
hand. No heat transfer means greater safety for sensitive gemstones such
as emeralds and opals. By fusing the metal, it leaves no seam. We
can weld most costume jewelry as well as all precious metals. We have
expanded our platinum repairs greatly with the Laserstar. We now have
added special platinum polishing equipment as well as platinum polishing
compounds at the Abingdon store. We can also weld titanium eyeglasses with
the Laserstar. Travis Gobble has been trained at the Laserstar factory in
Rhode Island.
Gemological Services

Mark Goodman is a Graduate Gemologist trained by The
Gemological Institute of America. We offer jewelry appraisals, diamond
grading and gem identification. Our gem lab, located in the Abingdon
store, has all the latest equipment for gemological testing. We have a
gemscope, Gran colorimeter computer, polariscope, refractometer, dicroscope,
specific gravity liquids, and ultraviolet lamps. These pieces of
equipment, along with digital imaging equipment, are used for insurance
evaluations as well as quality assurance. We grade diamonds for clarity,
color, and cut grades. We also identify enhanced diamonds. All of
our diamonds from 0.5 carat and larger come with a diamond evaluation
stating clarity, color, and cut grades as well as diamond weights and mounting
descriptions.
